Mireku Duker Breaks Ground For More Projects; Donates to Fiase Golden Royals FC, others

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency in the Western Region, George Mireku Duker, continues to bring development to the doorsteps of his constituents.
The lawmaker, who is also the Deputy Minister for the Lands and Natural Resources, as part of his usual community engagements, last week, embarked on a number of activities, including the donation of sports items to the Fiase Golden Royals Football Club.
This comes days after he began a move with the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, to initiate a sister-city programme between Tarkwa and a yet-to-be mentioned city from the European nation.
Some of the items donated last Saturday, were: three sets of branded jerseys – 30pieces each; three sets of hose, 20 shin guards, four gloves, 10 footballs, 20 markers, 10 top down jerseys for officials and GH¢5,000 cash gift.
Fiase Golden Royals FC, which is one of the promising and vibrant female youth team in the constituency, was also promised a GH¢20, 000.00 in the event that it is able to qualify to the National Women’s Premier League.
Mr Mireku Duker’s engagement also took him to Number 4 Street, where he cut sod for a Community Centre, which will serve as a meeting ground for the people of Akoon.
The project was birthed as a result of calls by chiefs of the community led by chief of Akoon, Nana Abban, who expressed the appreciation of the people to the MP, for its take off.
There was also the donation of four industrial sewing machines to four dedicated and skilled tailors/dressmakers, following a request.
“This forms part of my apprenticeship drive and empowerment programs I initiated since 2017”, the MP stressed.
In all, the beneficiaries expressed their deepest appreciation to the parliamentarian and promised to make good use of the items and moneys donated.
