First Lady attends 26th Gen Assembly of OAFLAD
First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo over the weekend attended the 26th Extraordinary General Assembly of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) in Brazzaville, Congo.
The meeting was on the theme “Twenty years in service of the most vulnerable of Africa” where the First Ladies deliberated on Health Financing for Sustainable Development in Africa and also elected a new sets of leaders to steer the affairs of OAFLAD for the next two years.
OAFLAD has made contributions to improving health outcomes, especially in the areas of HIV, maternal and neonatal health and malaria across Africa, in its 20 years of existence.
Mrs Akufo-Addo had the opportunity to share her experiences from operating The Rebecca Foundation.
She pointed out the importance of developing a comprehensive strategy that has the most impact on the target population, building and maintaining the trust of partners by being transparent, accountable and reliable and doing their work with urgency, purpose and exemplary leadership.
Mrs Monica Geingos, First Lady of Namibia was elected as the new President of OAFLAD.
She takes over from Mrs Antoinette Sassou Nguesso, First Lady of The Republic of Congo.
