Kirin Cup: Ghana finish third after penalties shootout
The Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday, 14 June 2022 defeated Chile 3-1 on penalties to finish third at the Kirin Cup tournament in Japan.
After a pulsating 90 minutes of action, the game ended 0-0.
Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus and Fatawu Issahaku all converted their penalty kicks while goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen became the hero after saving two penalties.
Ghana ended the game with nine-men after Alidu Seidu and Mubarak Wakaso were sent off in the second half.
The black stars despite the numerical disadvantage held on and could have gotten a goal at the last minute.
Mohammed Kudus curled one with his left foot but the Chilean goalie impressively parried the ball away at the last kick of the game to take the game in penalty shootouts.
