ECG Wins Best Customer Experience Award
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has been adjudged the best state-owned enterprise in customer experience for 2022, by the Marketing World Awards (MWA).
According to organizers, Instinct Wave, the power distributor, was recognized for its noble marketing strategy of its ‘moratorium to customers’.
The award comes few weeks after ECG issued a final moratorium to many of its customers, who, for various reasons, were unable to pay their bills as expected.
Some of the customers who fell under ECG radar were:Postpaid customers who have meters but do not receive bills, customers whose meters are faulty as well as prepared customers who do not purchase electricity credit
The moratorium which came in a form of reminder in the dailies and on the internet was to follow a nationwide exercise of auditing of all it meters, which was supposed to have ended on Wednesday, 6 July.
But, after many of such customers took advantage of the well-received gesture, the period was extended.
According to the power distributor, “following the positive feedback from our customers, the moratorium has been extended by two more weeks (2) ending yesterday Wednesday 20 July 2022.
To further give customers the opportunity to report to our Districts/ Regional officers for rectification of the under listed issues;
“It I must be noted that, after the expiration of this extended moratorium, customers who are caught stealing electricity will be charged with the offence of stealing and accordance with the law and their names published widely”.
The Marketing World Awards recognizes individuals and organizations that have exhibited excellence in marketing.
Meanwhile, the company has announced that the Extended Moratorium has come to an end yesterday.
It in a public notice sighted by The Anchor said, “The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) wishes to inform our cherished customers and the general public that, the extended moratorium given to the customers to herald a nationwide exercise of auditing all our meters will end by close of business today, Wednesday 20th July 2022”.
“We wish to thank all our customers and stakeholders for their cooperation and support during the moratorium, which is one of the important efforts in resolving our billing and metering anomalies, to improve our service delivery to our cherished customers,” the notice said.
