Police announce ¢100k bounty for information on Wa killers

The Ghana Police Service has announced a reward of ¢100,000 for persons who can volunteer credible information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of perpetrators behind the recent killings in Wa.

It follows the earlier arrest of one suspect, Kankani Adongo, who is currently in custody, assisting with investigations.

According to an update issued by the police on Tuesday, it is possible that there are more people involved in criminal activities; hence, people should not hesitate to cooperate and provide any information to help arrest the remaining killers.

Many residents of the Wa Municipality and the Upper West Region have been left in fear after some security personnel were murdered by unknown assailants in the last weeks with the latest happening last Friday.

On Friday morning, residents woke up to the news of another missing private security guard, bringing the number to seven in the last five months.

The Police on Sunday, September 18, retrieved the body of one of the murdered persons who was allegedly killed Friday, September 16.

The body of the 58-year-old security man was found in a shallow grave on the outskirts of Wa on Sunday, September 18.

A local search team informed the police.

But the Police have assured the residents of Wa and surrounding communities that they will continue to maintain law and order.

“The special purpose intelligence and investigation team as part of their surveillance during the night of September 19, 2022, recovered a body of a male adult at Bamahu.

“After the necessary crime scene examination, the body was removed and deposited at the Regional Hospital, Wa awaiting autopsy. A pathologist from the Police Hospital is leading a team to Wa as part of an investigation into the incidents,” the police update said.

About 305 police officers have been deployed to beef up security in the area.
