Volta Youth Demands Apology from Asogli Palace
A group calling itself ‘Volta Youth Democratic Governance and Development’ has warned the Asogli State Council to, as a matter of urgency, render an unqualified apology to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, for disgracing him publicly during their just-ended Yam festival.
The group, in a press release, noted that, it was very bad for the AsogliState to publicly reject the gifts brought by the lawmaker during the sitting in state by the Agbogbomefia and his subjects.
Convener of the group, Daniel Doe, noted that the lawmaker was duly invited as the chairman for the Ghana Gas Company and should have been treated right by the chiefs.
He alleged that, it was clear that the incident was a set-up by the Asogli State to disgrace and humiliate the lawmaker publicly, a situation he said was very bad and uncalled for and must be condemned.
“His love for the Volta Region goes beyond whatever reasons he was intentionally made a laughing stock. He, in fact, married a woman from the region and recently came out boldly to tell the world that his most intelligent children were from the Volta Region,” Doe said.
He noted that, Mr. Agyapong’s love for the region made him to procure some hospital equipment to the Ho Teaching Hospital, formerly known as the Regional Hospital, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Daniel Doe noted that, almost all the MP’s businesses are being managed by the people of Volta Region because of the trust and love he has for the region.
“We agreed that the lawmaker might have had his differences as a human being and as such his behavior of bad doing should have been pointed to him long before his visit. We therefore felt as a group to appeal to the chiefs from the Asogli State to offer an apology to him since the secretary to the Asogli State accepted wrongdoing for his actions,” he said.
