Tarkwa MP Distributes Hampers, Cash To Widows [photos]
George Mireku Duker, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem in the Western Region has had a get-together with over 400 widows in his Constituency as a way to celebrate the Christmas with vulnerable.
The donation which has become an annual gesture by the MP, saw hundreds of widows, including the aged from all walks of life, receiving the package on Monday, December 26, 2022 at a colorful ceremony.
The undisclosed amount and hampers, which was shared to the beneficiaries without any form of discrimination comprised bags of rice, tins of tomato, cooking oil, tins of sardine and mackerel, assorted non-alcoholic drinks among others.
In his remark, the MP who doubles as Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources responsible for Mining said, the donation was to help the widows have “a memorable Xmas celebration”.
He charges all and sundry to remember and support the various vulnerable groups in our societies in seasons like this.
He thanked the chiefs and elders as well as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency and Regional executives who were present to lend their support.
