Akufo-Addo directs CID to probe Frimpong Boateng’s Jubilee House galamsey claims

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Police to investigate the allegations by Prof Frimpong Boateng regarding the involvement of some government officials involved in illegal mining.

Following the directives by the president, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into the matter.

The former Minister for Environment Science, Technology and Innovations in an interview on GBC alleged that even the staff at the Jubilee House and New Patriotic Party (NPP) bigwigs are neck-deep in illegal mining activities across the country.

He further alleged that these individuals played a role in ensuring he was ousted from the government.

According to him, as the Head of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Fight Against Galamsey, he was mistreated because he was against their illicit activities
