EC Recruits Returning Officers For Dec 7 Election
Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) has announced it is receiving applications from interested persons who want to be employed temporary for the positions of Returning Officers and Deputy Returning Officers for this year’s December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to the electoral management body, such officers will also serve as Registration Supervisor, Deputy Registration Supervisor, Exhibition Supervisors and Deputy Exhibition Supervisors.
A statement issued by the EC yesterday, Monday 5 and sighted by The Anchor said, “Successful applicants will be engaged for all three (3) major activities of the Electoral Commission scheduled for 2024, namely the Voter Registration Exercise of Voters Register and General Election.”
The successful applicants, who will cover all the 16 regions, have up to Friday 16 February, 2024 to submit their applications for consideration.
All applications are to be addressed to, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission Jean Mensa, through email addresses for all the 16 regions provided in the statement.
Applicants are expected to possess a minimum academic qualification for Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officer is First Degree in any field of study. A Master’s degree, the Commission said, is an added advantage.
Ghana goes to the polls on December 7 2024 for both parliamentary and presidential elections. It will be the 9th election since returning to democratic rule in 1992.
The call for temporary officers is one of the activities that the EC will be embarking on to ensure that there is free, fair and transparent election.
