Gospel musician KODA passes on
Ghanaian gospel sensation, Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, popularly known as KODA, has passed away.
Multiple media reports say, the popular gospel musician, succumbed to a short illness in the early hours of yesterday Sunday, April 21, 2024.
His colleague Gospel musician and a friend, Nii Okai, also confirmed the sad news shortly after the information about KODA’s demise went viral.
He wrote, “KODA has passed onto glory in the early hours of Sunday April 21, 2024.Let us pray for the family as we all process the news of his transition”.
Celebrated as one of the definitive sounds of Ghana’s influential contemporary gospel music, KODA was a multi-award-winning artiste passionate about sharing the gospel and helping shape the sound and music direction of others through music production.
He is noted for his soulful voice, record production, and songwriting skills.
He produced music for the likes of the late Danny Nettey, Ps. Joe Beechem, Nii Okai, Halal Afrika, Eugene Zuta, and more.
KODA’s discography includes 3 studio albums, 2 live albums, and 2 instrumental/ jazz albums.
“Keteke,” his most recent album, was well-received both critically and commercially when it was released in January 2021.
His music is filled with messages of optimism and resilience, and he is known for his contagious energy.
It is anticipated that the family in a coming days, will provide details, regarding the cause of his illness and funeral arrangements.
