Zonda Tec Unveils Luxurious Vehicles To Boost Ghanaian Automotive Industry

Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, a leading heavy and light-duty vehicle assembling, distribution and servicing company, has officially launched the latest addition to its fleet of vehicles and equipment into the Ghanaian market.

The company, with a promise to innovate and invest hugely in the local production, unveiled the modern GWM Tank 300 and GWM POER Series Pickups, to support government’s vision for a vibrant and self-sustaining automotive industry.

The vehicles, which represent a significant investment in the future of Ghana’s automotive industry, were launched at a colourful ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Managing Director (MD) of the company, Yang Yang, who expressed joy over the introduction of the vehicles into the market said, Zonda Tech, in collaboration with Great Wall Motor (GWM), has been committed to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.

According to Madam Yang, the Tank 300 and POER Pick-up models, are a proof of the company’s commitment, combining cutting-edge technology, robust design, and unmatched luxury.

Built for multi-functionality, affordability, and durability, these vehicles, are intended to deliver exceptional performance and can endure the toughest conditions. It was also to ensure long-lasting durability and dependability.

Above all, it is the most affordable high performing pickup in the local market, the company explained.

Madam Yang, said starting from August this year, the pick-ups, will be assembled in the company’s state-of-the-art assembly plant.

“This assembly plant represents a significant investment in the future of the Ghanaian automotive industry. It will not only enhance our production capabilities, but also create numerous job opportunities and contribute to the local economy.

By assembling these vehicles locally, we aim to provide our customers with superior products, while fostering technology transfer, growth of local expertise and skills by having our Ghanaian team of engineers trained and certified by engineers from Great Wall Motors”, the MD said.

A Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Michael Okyere Baafi, who described the introduction of the vehicles as timely, said it symbolizes not just innovation and engineering excellence, but also the spirit of adventure and progress.

The Poer Pick-ups, he noted are designed with the hardworking Ghanaian in mind, adding it boasts of a powerful engine, durable, and has the capacity to handle the toughest terrains and heaviest loads.

He said, the vehicle is not just a means of transportation; but a tool for productivity and success; stressing that, be it a farmer, a contractor, or an entrepreneur, the Poer Pick-up, is recommended as the most reliable partner on the road.

According to the New Juaben South Member of Parliament (MP), the SUV is crafted for those seeking adventure without compromising comfort and style.

With its advanced safety features, technology, and robust performance, the Tank 300, is perfect for exploring the diverse landscapes of our beautiful country, from the bustling city streets to the remote countryside.

Confirming more on the details of the vehicles, Mr Baafi, said “I can confidently announce that the Poer Pick-up, has been registered under the Ghana Automotive Development Programme to be assembled locally, whilst the Tank 300, would be added in a year or two.

This would further bring down the prices of these vehicles based on the government’s package of incentives for the assembling of vehicles locally”.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Yaw Amoateng Afriyie, on his part, said the introduction of the GWM Tank 300 Poer and GWM Poer Series Pickups, is a major step forward in the country’s journey towards automotive excellence and industrial advancement.

He said, government identified the Assembly and Automotive Components manufacturing as a very important and strategic anchor industry and thus developed the Ghana Automotive Development Policy (GADP) in 2019, providing the needed framework for the establishment of the sector.

“We recognize the significance of this moment within the framework of the Ghana Automotive Development Policy, crafted to stimulate local automotive production, enhance technologies transfer, and create employment opportunities. Today, the introduction of the GWM Tank 300 Poer Pick-ups underscores Ghana’s progress towards achieving policy objectives”, Mr Afriyie said.

He said, the launch is a proof of Ghana’s attractiveness as an investment destination for businesses.

He added that, the event shows the confidence that world’s brands place in the business environment, regulatory frameworks, and the skilled workforce available in the country.

The unveiling of the vehicles, he said reiterates government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for sustainable investment across all sectors that encourages innovation and supports local contest development.

“At GIPC, we recognize the power and potential of Ghana’s enviable position as the Secretariat of the AfCFTA and are working to make the case to the international investor community to invest in Ghana first, grow in Ghana, and then springboard into the African trading bloc, that presents excellent returns for goods and services.

GIPC continues to promote the manufacturing sector and showcase its success stories.”

Fan Dongyun, an official of the Great Wall Motor in Ghana, pledged her outfit’s commitment to provide customers with choice to choose from, indicating GWM, will soon introduce into the market other models like HAVAL JOLION and other new products.

“Further, we are accelerating to launch more excellent products. I am confident that with its rich product lineup and long-term determination to take root and serve the local market, Great Wall Motor will cover more targeted customers, accurately meet various needs and provide users with a safe comfortable and intelligent travel experience.
