Bawumia Campaign Team: Dan Botwe Sidelined?

Intelligence Desk Report

There is uneasy calm within the camp of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, as a result of the decision by the Campaign Manager, Mr Daniel Kweku Botwe, to allegedly have nothing to do with the Team.

Information filtering in strongly suggests, as a result of some happenings around the flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the respected Okere lawmaker, has come to a firm decision to resign his post as the Campaign Chairman, barring any last-minute intervention.

A source told The Anchor, so bad are the developments that Mr Dan Botwe, does not even have an office within the campaign office situated around the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) at Ridge, a suburb of Accra.

This paper is informed, the former Local Government Minister and renowned elections strategist, was only being used for selfish ends, to the extent that he is hardly consulted in any major decision regarding the campaign activities.

This development is coming, with barely five months to the crucial December 7, polls.

A very worried source within the Campaign team, who confided in the paper said, “Mr Editor, the team is just benefitting from the goodwill and credibility of Mr. Dan Botwe but in reality, he is not being consulted on any major decision that has to do with the campaign”.

“Knowing who Dan Botwe is when it comes to principle, discipline and transparency, I will not be surprised at all, if he announces his resignation from the Team in a few days to come”, the source revealed.

According to the source, the unfortunate development, calls for the Leader of the party, [Dr Bawumia] to step in immediately, in order to avert any political catastrophe because, Dan Botwe’s resignation, could spell doom for the party’s chances of breaking the ‘8’.

Last week, Mr Dan Botwe, failed to turn up for crucial campaign retreats on Thursday and Friday at the Ellking Hotel, East Legon, Accra.

The NPP earlier this year, unveiled the campaign team for its flagbearer ahead of the 2024 polls.

The list includes Dr Bawumia as the Campaign Chairman for the overall campaign coordinating committee, while Dan Botwe, was announced as the Strategist for the campaign.

Dr Gideon Boako, was also named as the spokesperson for the party’s 2024 campaign, while Dennis Edward Aboagye, was named Director of Communications.

This announcement came after the NPP’s National Executive Committee meeting held on Monday, February 19.
