13-Years-Old Orphan Sexually Abused In Winneba

…Traumatized Boy Unable To Walk Properly

A 13-year-old teenage boy, who has lost both parents and ended up loitering at Winneba Beach in the Central Region, is living in pain, after he was sexually abused by multiple men.

The boy, whose name is not disclosed for obvious reasons, was found by a Good Samaritan at the beach, who brought his plight to the public.

According to his rescuer, the boy lives on the streets and due to his inability to cater for himself at that tender age, some unscrupulous men and friends, resort to taken advantage by sleeping with him through the back, before they give him money for food.

In a Facebook post on women only platform, ‘Tell It Moms’, Joyce Ayensuah Ghansah, recounted her encounter with the poor boy, saying the boy has lost both parents and currently lives with his aged grandmother.

The aged grandmother, she said is also unable to take proper care of the boy, due to her current status.

According to Joyce, the boy had come to them with three others to beg for money and it was after she provided them with some food and water, that the boy decided to confined in her about his predicaments.

She said after finding more about him as an orphan, living with his grandmother, they took him to the town where they met with the Assembly Woman, who also confirmed what the boy had told them earlier.

“We met this (13years) teenager at Winneba beach, he came and begged for money, after giving him food and water to eat, we tried to find out where the parents are, he then told us that, he has lost his parents but stays with the grandmother who is very old. We took him to the community where he stays and the assembly woman is the area including some individuals who know him also confirmed that he has lost both parents. He was not alone when he came and begged for money, they were four in number”, she said.

Police station shock

Joyce, said she later took the boy and his friends’ home to help them clean up, after which they were sent to the Police station.

The victim

She said, it was at the Police Station that they got to know that at as a male child, multiple men were sleeping with him for pittance to fend for himself.

The worrying news, was broken by the boy’s friends, who also went to the Police Station with them.

They disclosed that on days that no man was able to sleep with him, the poor boy picks scraps at dumping sites, as a form of work to raise some money for food.

“We took them to the house, gave them water to bath and sent them to the police station. When we got to the police station, his friends told us that, sometimes men and some of their friends in the area sleep with him before he gets money to buy food.  According to them, this boy collect trash before he gets money for food”, Joyce added.

Pains

Because of the sexual abuse, he confirmed that he is suffering from pain in the anus and unable to walk properly. The poster said, she has taken it upon herself to get him checked up at the hospital.

“He also confirmed that, what his friends are saying is true.  Now he can’t walk well, he said he is going through some pain. I have decided to send him to hospital for checkup”.

Worrying trend

The Anchor, is learning the issue of sexual molestation is becoming the order of the day in many fishing communities across the country, because of the abject poverty in those areas.

A while back, a similar story was carried by TV3, where another underage boy, was also abused at the beach near James Town in Accra.

In his case, the boy lives with his mother, but because she was unable to provide for him, he dropped out of school relying on people in the community to survive. While he begs for money and food, men slept with him, before he is able to raise money as little as 50 cedis.

A video of him showed a very pale boy with skin diseases, including rashes who needed urgent medical attention.

He also complained about pains in the anus.

In Ghana, the law is against unnatural canal knowledge and days ago, the Supreme Court, reiterated it, and to the extent that these boys are even minors, makes it worst.
