Ghana-Germany Exchange Programme In Carpentry Ends Successfully
The Miltenberg-Obernburg Vocational School, has held a successful ceremony to mark the end of a significant exchange programme.
The initiative, saw cultural and educational exchange, between Carpentry students from Germany and their Ghanaian counterparts.
The journey began in June this year, when five Carpentry students from Miltenberg-Obernburg, paid a visit to the Abor Senior High School (Aborsco) in the Volta Region of Ghana to among others, share knowledge and skills.
The team’s visit was reciprocated in July, when five young Carpenters from Ghana, also travelled to Germany on the same mission.
The students, who have exhibited enormous talent, had previously demonstrated their skills by winning a Carpentry competition in Ghana sometime in October 2023, during an event dubbed ; “German Days Celebration” in Ghana.
This competition was organized by The Rising Lions (TRL) with the support of the delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK), BOSCH and EJOT.
The partnership for this exchange programme, was solidified with the involvement of the State Vocational School in Miltenberg-Obernburg, recognized for its excellence in vocational training.
According to Ms. Nadine Faber, the President and Founder of the Rising Lions e.V, the programme aligns with the NGO’s motto dubbed, “Each One, Teach One,” which emphasizes how the programme promotes exchange of knowledge and mutual learning.
An engaging and entertaining review of the German group’s stay in Ghana, was presented by the students and their teacher, Ms. Katrin Kempf, along with Ms. Anka Blick, a representative of The Rising Lions e.V.
They shared their experiences and insights gained during their short stay in Ghana.
The Rising Lions-Ghana’s Director, Mr Peter Attipoe, reiterated the value of inter-cultural exchanges.
He emphasized that, these kinds of initiatives give young people in Ghana, fresh outlooks on life, as well as chances for development on both personal and professional level.
In order to discourage young people from taking the risky trek through the Sahara Desert in quest of a better life in Europe, he emphasized the need for them to have hope and chances for a better future.
During their 10-day stay in Germany, the Ghanaian students, visited several Carpentry companies, including Rauch Möbelwerke, Reinhold Keller GmbH, and Freiform.
The visit provided them with a firsthand look at the advanced techniques and tools used in German carpentry.
At the Vocational School, the Ghanaian team and their teachers, were given an in-depth insight into the Vocational Training system in Germany.
