Husband Abandons Wife At Hospital For Delivering Triplets

A 25-year-old mother, Gloria Teye, is regretting for giving birth to triplets, after her husband, Samuel Boateng, absconded for bearing too many children in the face of the current economic situation.

Gloria, is reported to have given birth at home by herself and later sent to a health facility, before ending up at the Eastern Regional Hospital, for medical attention.

The babies, have been admitted at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Kangaroo Mother Care Services of the hospital.

But apparently, the husband, a barber, who came visiting and learnt about his wife and the three more children in addition to the previous four (4) including twins, unceremoniously left the health facility.

It is believed this what has frightened the 36-year-old father of 7, to abandon his wife and children to an unknown destination.

Since he left, no one knows his whereabouts, putting the new mother in a desperate mood. According to Gloria, all attempts to contact Samuel, has proven unsuccessful.

According to her, “My husband left the hospital after the nurse informed him that I have giving birth to triplets, we tried to call him several times but did not answer our calls”

“The last time I gave birth to twins and this time round triplets, I think that’s the reason why he is not happy because he told me things are hard during my pregnancy, even the four that we already have are burden to him”.

Gloria from Nkurakan in Yilo Krobo municipality, who is currently stranded at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua, is seeking monetary support from philanthropists and organizations.

Gloria blamed herself for having more children, especially given her husband’s reaction.

She said in the past, Samuel, expressed concerns about the financial burden of raising multiple children, citing the struggles he faces in maintaining his barbershop, which is reportedly on the brink of collapse due to high electricity tariffs and low patronage.

“The last time I gave birth to twins, and now triplets. I think that’s why he is unhappy because he told me during my pregnancy that things were hard. Even the four children we already have are a burden to him. My husband runs a barbershop in Nkurakan, but the shop is near collapsing due to high electricity tariffs and low patronage,” she added.

The distraught mother, is now appealing to the general public for financial assistance to pay her hospital bills.

“We need financial support from everyone, at least to pay my hospital bills for now. We beg Ghanaians to help us,” she pleaded

The hospital authorities, have also raised concerns about the increasing number of mothers stranded at the facility due to their inability to settle their medical bills, despite been discharged.

The hospital authority, described the situation, as worrying and appealed to the general public, family and friends to come to the aid of these nursing mothers.
