W/R Youth Thumbs Up Bawumia For Appointing Tarkwa MP

The youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western Region, has commended the party’s flagbearer over the appointment of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency, describing it as apt.

According to the youth, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, could not have chosen a better person than the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, George Mireku Duker, considering his vast experience in the mining and related issues.

The praise by the excited youth, comes on the back of the recent appointment of Mr Duker, as the Campaign Coordinator for all mining communities across the country.

Per the appointment letter, dated September 6, Mr Duker, will be responsible for the coordination of campaign activities, by organizing and leading campaigns directed at miners and mining communities, develop and implement strategies that will effectively communicate the flagbearers policies on the mining sector to all stakeholders

The letter, signed by Chairman Fred Oware, Vice Campaign Chairman of Bawumia for President, reads in part, “We trust that with your expertise and leadership, you will significantly contribute to our collective effort to win the support of mining constituencies nationwide”.

The NPP youth on their part, in a statement issued on September 12, expressed their appreciation to the Vice President for the recognition done to one of their own, adding, the youth in the region are appreciative of the appointment.

“The NPP Western Regional Youth Wing, under the able leadership of Mr Benedict Addae, wishes to express appreciation to His Excellency, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for appointing Hon. George Mireku Duker (MP, Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency) to the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 Campaign Team as the Coordinator for the Mining Commission”.

The statement, signed by the Organizer, Benedict Addae said, “The youth of Western Region are extremely grateful to the NPP flagbearer for the recognition and trust reposed in Hon. Duker, considering the law maker’s experience in mining and its related issues in Ghana”.

The youth are convinced that the MP having served as a deputy minister for a while in-charge of mining, is the right man for the job and to organize the various communities where gold is mined and cash in on the needed votes for four more years.

While congratulating Mr Duker, the youth, wished him well and prayed that the MP, will be able to achieve all that he has been tasked to do.

“The youth are highly confident that given Hon. Duker’s role achievements as Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, he will work assiduously to mobilize the mining communities across the country on the side of the New Patriotic Party in order to attain the goal of breaking the 8, come December.

The NPP Western Regional Youth Wing, seizes the opportunity to congratulate Hon. George Mireku Duker on his appointment, and we pray the good Lord grants him the fortitude and the wisdom to deliver on his mandate towards breaking the 8 agenda”, the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, a statement from the MP’s office confirming the appointment said, “Hon. George Mireku Duker, MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has been appointed Campaign Coordinator For All Mining Communities by the Dr. Bawumia Campaign ahead of the 2024 elections.

“The appointment according to sources, is based on his extensive experience and deep understanding of the mining sector coupled with his strategic relationship with Miners and how he advocates for responsible mining activities.”

The statement added that Mireku Duker, will have the responsibility of projecting the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government in the last almost 8 years to Ghanaians.

“His major task will be to articulate the government’s achievements in the sector in the last 8 years and map strategies for NPP to win massively in the Mining Communities.

“Putting the Miners Man in such a key role puts the NDC in a ditch in the Mining Communities,” the statement added.

This appointment comes a few weeks after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) launched its manifesto at Takoradi.

The NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has, meanwhile, been on a tour of various parts of the Greater Accra Region.
