Over 30 SHS Students Hospitalised After Eating ‘Waakye’
30 students of Ajumako-Afransi Technical and Vocational Institute in the Central Region, have been hospitalized, over suspected food poisoning.
Reports indicate, the students started complaining of severe stomach upset, soon after consuming waakye with stew and were rushed to the Ajumako Baah Salvation Army Polyclinic.
The pain, was said to be accompanied with running stomach and vomiting.
The incident, reportedly occurred during their lunch time on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, forcing some parents to rush to the school, whiles others followed up to the health facilities, where the students were being attended to.
While, some of the affected students are undergoing treatment at the Ajumako Baah Salvation Army Polyclinic, others are receiving medical attention at the Ajumako District Government Hospital.
Physician Assistant, Daniel Agyeakpor, who spoke with Adom News, explained that majority of the students are in stable condition and are awaiting lab results to determine the cause of the stomach ache.
At the time of filing this report, school authorities, are yet to comment on the incident.
