…While On Business Trip With Her Boss; Family Demands Justice

A 24-year-old Petroleum Engineering graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Lois Abena Koranteng, has been found dead in a swimming pool under bizarre circumstances.

The deceased, who had travelled with her boss and company driver on a business trip, reportedly checked in a hotel named, Crislord Palace Hotel, at Anaji, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Regional capital.

The incident, which is currently being investigated by the police, purportedly happened on Monday, July 8, 2024.

Lois body, which has been deposited at the Korle-bu Teaching hospital morgue for autopsy, according to reports, was found floating on the pool with no visible signs of injuries.

However, sources say management of the hotel, are yet to provide CCTV footages of the place, with excuse that the cameras, were malfunctioning at the time of the incident.

Suspicion

This development, has left family of the deceased, who until her demise, purportedly works with a company called Icons Energy, suspecting a foul play and therefore demanding justice.

George Boateng, an elder brother of late Lois Abena, believes his younger sister, was murdered and dumped in the hotel’s pool, contrary to what management of the hotel is telling the family.

Worried George in an Instagram post said, “My lil sis checked in @chrislordpalacehotel in Anaji, Takoradi on 7th June 2024, with her boss and company driver. She was murdered and dumped into the hotel’s swimming pool at down on 8th June 2024. The police aren’t telling the family anything, not even an arrest. Hotel claims CCTV isn’t functioning. We seek #justice for Lois Abena Koranteng (A 24yr petroleum engineering graduate of KNUST).”

Lois is said to have spoken to her family members on the trip with hopes of returning home after her activities.

But just a day after she left to the region, a phone call came through to the family announcing Lois, the last born of a family of three, had passed away under bizarre circumstances.

“She was working with an energy company, they mostly travel to Takoradi and other places on Weekends for business. We spoke to her on the weekend before leaving, around 5:30 am the following day, we had a phone call that our sister had been found dead in the swimming pool of the hotel where they were lodging.

They had sent her lifeless body to the hospital and police had started investigations when close family members reported to the scene”, another brother of the deceased, Aaron Koranteng, told Takoradi-based Connect FM, in an interview.

“Her boss told us that she came to her hotel around midnight and decided to use the swimming pool”, he added.

It is unknown how Lois, who had checked into her hotel room to sleep after the evening of arrival, ended up in the swimming pool.

Information indicates that, the family was later informed that the deceased came out of her hotel room around midnight to swim in the pool.

The question on the lips of many is, how she was allowed to use the swimming pool at midnight? An autopsy conducted by the police revealed, no blood stains or cuts on any part of her body, according to the family.

“Last Monday, we engaged the police and upon request, the body was released to Korle-Bu, where we all witnessed the autopsy. But we are yet to receive the final report as a family since the police are using it for their investigations”, he added.

Demand for justice

Meanwhile, the family of Lois, has called for justice for their member, demanding for details of circumstances that led to her unfortunate demise.

The family is convinced the young lady, was murdered and want her death to be probed.

Despite many questions raised on how she ended up in the pool, the hotel has remained tight-lipped.

The family has started a protest to seek justice for the late Lois.
