MP Saves Kanjarga Community SHS From Missing Out WASSCE Practical
A timely intervention by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has saved Kanjarga Community Day Senior High School (SHS) from possibly missing out in this year’s West Africa Senior High School (WASSCE) practical examinations.
The school which is financially challenged, was unable to procure materials required to conduct WASSCE practical exams for its students expected to write Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Clothing & Textiles, as well as Foods & Nutrition, hence were at the verge of missing it.
This situation, forced management of the school, to fall on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker for immediate intervention.
In a letter dated August 19, addressed to the MP, the headmaster of the school, appealed for financial assistance in excess of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis to save the situation.
“We wish to appeal to your high office for support to enable us write carry out this year’s West Africa Senior High School Practical Examinations of the School.
The School, is supposed to procure the materials for required for the practical examinations in these subject areas but she is currently challenged financially and would therefore be grateful if you could use your good offices to come to our aid”.
Following the appeal, Dr Apaak, authorized the release of funds needed from his share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund to purchase the items.
Appreciation
Meanwhile, management of the Kanjarga Community Day SHS, has since written to expressed profound appreciation to the MP for his timely intervention.
In a letter, the headmaster said, “On behalf of the Board of Governors, Staff and Students of Kanjarga Community Day Senior High School, I wish to thank you and District Assembly for your show of magnanimity towards the school in our time of need”.
“As the saying goes ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed’. Words cannot express our joy for heeding to our cry. We are grateful for the release of your share of the common fund to cater for the WASSCE practical examination of the School.
“May the almighty God bless you abundantly so that you would continue to be a blessing to others,” the school said to the third-time MP.
