Attorney-General’s Bodyguard Beats Court Security Man To Pulp

 A bodyguard of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, yesterday pounced on a private security officer on duty at the Law Courts Complex in Accra, beaten him mercilessly and leaving him traumatized.

The crime of the security man, was his refusal to allow the Attorney-General’s vehicle entry into the court premises because the place was already full.

The unfortunate incident, which left many onlookers dumfounded, happened Monday, July 25, at exactly 12:08pm in the full glare of members of the general public while Mr. Yeboah Dame himself stays glued inside his official Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle unperturbed.

MrOdame was attending the court as a result of the day’s ruling on the submission of no cased in a treason trial case involving ACP Agordzo and others.

The nasty scene, which was chanced upon by The Anchor, attracted many onlookers and left members of the public in disbelief at the inhumane manner the security was badly beaten.

The name of the minister’s bodyguard, who was in mufti was not readily known at the time of filing this report. It is also, not clear if the bodyguard is a state security officer.

It all started, when Mr. Dame arrived at the court premises around midday by which time, the parking lot was already full, and therefore, refused entry. The sides of the parking lot, is mainly reserved for lawyers and judges only.

The traumatized security man after the incident explained that he did not know it was Mr. Dame who was in the car, the reason why he refused to allow the vehicle entry, on the basis that the place was full.

He said, he then directed the AG’s driver to use a different entrance. This, did not go down well with the bodyguard who insisted on them using the same entrance, regardless.

However, the security man’s attempt to get close and peep through the vehicle to see who was in it by reason which the occupants were insisting on entering without taking his instruction, seemed to be what elicited the beating.

The peeved bodyguard in mufti, then got out from the AG’s vehicle and walked straight to throw off the barricade from their way.

But while going for the barricade, the angry bodyguard pounced on him, headp-butted the helpless security man after which he landed a hefty slap on his face.

The smallish private security man grabbed by the neck of his shirt, though tried to struggle himself off the hook but wasn’t successful.

A police officer, who saw what was happening and rushed to the scene was rather warned not to come closer. But while the attack continued, other police officers and members of the public had to muster the courage to intervene and separate them.
