Lands Ministry Launches‘E-Jobs4All’Today

…Programme Targets 10,000 Youths In Mining Regions

A major programme expected to tackle youth unemployment issues in Ghana is set to be launched this morning by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

Dubbed “Entrepreneurship Jobs for All (E-Jobs4All),”the programme is targeting at least 10,000 Ghanaian youths in all mining regions for training in entrepreneurship and innovation over a period of five years.

The poverty alleviation programme, which is being sponsored by the National Alternative Employment Livelihood Programme (NAELP), under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, will prepare beneficiaries to build and grow their own businesses.

Other partners of the programme include Community and Entrepreneurial Development Initiatives (CEDI Ghana), Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre (DDQIC) at Queen’s University, Canada and Leadogo Incorporated, Canada.

“We are addressing poverty, youth unemployment and illegal mining in Ghana by providing entrepreneurship training, mentorship and investment opportunities to thousands of Ghanaian youths to develop and launch their businesses,” the organizers have said.

The sector minister will be joined by his deputy in charge of mining, George Mireku Duker, the coordinator for NAELP, Dr. Louise Carol Serwaa Donkor, among other top officials and guests, for the launch.

Upon a successful rollout, the E-Jobs4All will directly address one of NAELP’s core mandates: the promotion of sustainable and resilient businesses within mining communities. By fostering the growth of existing businesses, we create an environment that can absorb the talents and ambitions of unemployed youth, actively contributing to the development of their respective regions.

The NAELP, under its national coordinator, Dr. Louise Carol Serwaa Donkor, is said to be determined to ensure the National Alternative Employment Livelihood Programme achieves a success.

According to the officials, this collaboration is driven by a shared goal: to equip the young, innovative, and entrepreneurial talents with the essential skills required to not just start, but to thrive in the world of entrepreneurship.

They mentioned that, through E-Jobs4All, beneficiaries gain access to a wealth of opportunities, including entrepreneurship and innovative training provided by the prestigious Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre (DDQIC) at Queen’s University in Canada.

Additionally, they receive invaluable advisory services from seasoned experts within the influential Leadogo Incorporated Network.

Requirement

Per the eligibility criteria, applicants must be Ghanaian youth who either reside in or hail from the regions of Ghana where mining activities take place. These include, Ashanti, Western, Western North, Eastern, Ahafo, Central Region, Upper East and Savannah.

The programme is open to SMEs and aspiring entrepreneurs, including students, startups, the unemployed and fresh graduates who want to start, build and scale up their own businesses.

Additionally, applicants are expected to have basic proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English, because the mode of training and communication will be conducted in the Queen’s language.

Last but not the least, successful applicants are expected to be prepared and willing to pursue online/virtual training.
